Rochester Hills: The American Red Cross Blood Drive Is Coming Up

Though the holiday season is technically over, your generosity should still be going strong. On January nineteenth, next Thursday, Rochester Hills is holding a city-wide blood drive, which is the perfect opportunity for the philanthropically-inclined to act.

As a real estate team who values charity as much as we do business, we recognize the importance of giving to those in need. Giving blood is a very simple way that you can make a dramatic (and lasting) effect on someone’s life. And for those of us who have the giving spirit but perhaps not the financial resources, giving blood is an affordable way to donate to a worthy cause.

According to a survey supported by the National Blood Foundation, which asked almost 5,000 blood donors why they donate, many respondents said that “giving blood makes them feel good about themselves; supports their local communities and hospitals; supports their community culture; and ‘pays back’ society for the times when they or their families have needed blood transfusions in the past.”

The American Red Cross’s website is a great resource for looking up what to expect when you donate blood, from what to eat beforehand to basic facts about the function and uses of blood. The Southeastern Michigan Red Cross’s website is also worth stopping by, because you can read the stories of people who have received blood and the personal testimonies of those who give if you need inspiration.
