The Ewe Revue Returns to Downtown Rochester

The Ewe Revue is back for another year in downtown Rochester, and you can take part in selecting which Hollywood-themed sheep grace the streets of our lovely town this summer. View the portfolio of designs here; there are many to choose from but with so many creative options, the downtown area is bound to be a source of amusement and inspiration all summer. The Ewes man their posts from May 11 through September this year, when Rochester is in full summer form.
A “community-wide public art event celebrating the history, pride and spirit of downtown Rochester”, the Ewe Revue enlivens the downtown area to the delight of tourists and locals alike. The use of sheep is a nod to the area’s history of wool production, a major facet of the town’s economy in its early years. An artist’s chance to realize his or her design is dependent on selection by a sponsor.

Though Michigan was hit hard by the economic recession, there’s plenty of proof that our state is making a comeback. An important part of that comeback–and an important consideration for people looking to move to Michigan–is employment, and though unemployment has been high in our state the past couple of years (the seasonally-adjusted state unemployment rate in December fell by half a percentage point), Michigan’s true innovative spirit still shines through.

Here’s a local opportunity for jobhunters: if you’re in the tech field, then don’t miss the Oakland County Job Hub event happening on February 23rd in Rochester, at the Oakland University Student Center. This event offers the opportunity to meet with a large number of companies seeking full time employment in a variety of fields, including IT, Human Resources, Management, Engineering, and many more. Now is the time to dust off and polish up your resume, take your best business formal attire out of the closet and brush up on your small talk. The event is free, but in order to attend as a jobseeker you do need to register.
